Bandits' STARS Project

Berwick Bandits Speedway Club can tonight reveal the launch of the Bandits STARS (Stadium, Track And Rent Support) Project, a new support network initiative created to help raise funds for the club. 

The Project is designed to help the club raise funds from as many avenues as possible to contribute towards the annual costs of Stadium Rent, Track preparation, maintenance and extended medical cover.

24 hours after the Berwick "KLS" Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope, Wooler) narrowly missed out on taking a league point at the Glasgow Tigers as the home side got their act together with two heats to go, the Tigers were the Bandits guests last night at Shielfield Park with only home revenge on the menu and they certainly gained it in style with a 26-point victory which kept them in fourth place in the league.

One point and one place separated the Glasgow Tigers and the Berwick Bandits before last night's SGB Championship clash at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium with Berwick desperate to rise above their fourth place to leapfrog the Tigers should they take an unexpected away win, but Glasgow had dropped two, brining in GP star Craig Cook and Nathan Greaves in an act of strengthening.

The Berwick "KLS" Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope of Wooler) are still clinging tightly to fourth place in the SGB Championship but with Workington powering up behind, and with three matches in hand, every league point has doubled in importance for Berwick now who battle at the Glasgow Tigers on Friday night at 7.30pm with their new-look side taking to the track.

Bandits ride well in Pairs, but its no semi for Doolan and Summers

Kevin Doolan and Aaron Summers represented the Berwick "KLS" Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope, Wooler) last night in the SGB Championship Pairs at Somerset, taking their qualification races in Group A directly against Lakeside, Scunthorpe, Edinburgh and Peterborough with the top two going on to the semi finals to meet the leaders in Group B, comprising Sheffield, Ipswich, Glasgow, Redcar and Workington.

On Friday the Premiership's Somerset Rebels host the Championship's Pairs Finals which sees 10 of the 11 SGB Championship teams taking part, with disappointment heading the Newcastle Diamonds' way as the only team not to make this season's event.

Having finally relinquished their grip on fourth place in the Championship League table the Berwick "KLS" Bandits welcomed the Scunthorpe Scorpions with the full intention of getting back to winning ways and did both in fine style defeating Scunthorpe by 18 points and reclaiming the league's fourth spot on 19 points.

The only speedway action in the region this weekend takes place on Saturday at Shielfield Park when the Berwick "KLS" Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope, Wooler) take on the Scunthorpe Scorpions, although Newcastle's speedway-starved faithful may be tempted up the A1 for Saturday's 7.00pm clash, as their former top man, Steve Worrall is back in action for the Scorpions having recovered from a severely broken leg from early April.
