Bandits 2017- V2.0.1 -prepare to take to the track

It's the biggest weekend of the season so far for the Olympus Marquees Berwick Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope, Wooler) as they finally get to unveil their new-look side tonight at Shielfield Park when the Ipswich Witches are the guests in the SGB Championship at 7.00pm.

The Witches are currently third in the league table and the Bandits sitting propping up the entire league with zero points, but there's a new wind blowing through the Borders with Australian International Nick Morris coming in to lead the way at number one for Berwick having already scored 73+4 from his opening six SGB Premiership matches with Swindon Robins in the top flight.

This puts former number one, Lewis Bridger, a British International now mounted on new equipment, at number five while another Aussie, Jye Etheridge comes on at two with a Brit with bags of potential in at seven, Lee Payne, joining skipper Kevin Doolan, local lad Liam Carr while Austrian Dany Gappmaier has to miss the big day as his national federation has issued a compulsory recall on him to compete in an SEC qualifier. This means Poole's Ben Hopwood deputised tonight at Shielfield and Ben Morley does likewise for the Bandits tomorrow at Scunthorpe. Rest assured The Gap's teammates will want to deliver the goods for their absent

Co-promoter Scott Courtney said: "This is our Bandits 2017 V 2.0.1 launching tonight as we as a management were as angry and frustrated as the fans and we had to do something before too long, so we brought three riders who buy into our mantra which is try 100% till the flag falls, so we can't wait to get the new side on track and see what happens. This could be our season's U-turn!"

Team boss Gary Havelock is brimming with enthusiasm, saying: "We had to make massive decisions, but because of our fans the decisions were easy. We go into tonight's match full of confidence with total belief we can succeed. Time to show what we're totally capable of!"

Then Berwick then go on to Scunthorpe Sunday in the SGB Championship (3.00pm)
