Bandits big weekend gunning for Shield and Fours!

The Berwick Bandits are playing the "Game of 55" tonight at Shielfield Park (7.00pm) as they need to hit 55 points over the all-powerful Leicester Lions in the deciding leg of the 2019 Championship Shield Semi Final which Leicester are leading by 54-36 after last week's first leg at Beaumont Park.

Bandits' team manager Gary Flint is not entertaining any negative thoughts, saying: "All our guys from one to seven know they can do this tonight, they won't allow themselves to have any doubt in their heads, and when a squad with such a solid team spirit engage in that sort of positive belief, then they can beat anyone, including a side led by seven times British Champion, Scott Nichols!

"A 20-point victory tonight will see us in to the Shield Final against the winners of Glasgow vs. Eastbourne, which would be our first national final for an awful long time, and trust us all when we say we want that more than anything!"

Berwick's top four (Aaron Summers, Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen, Kevin Doolan, Jye Etheridge - With Coty Garcia at reserve) travel to Peterborough on Sunday (2pm start) for the annual four team championship finals day which sees all 11 Championship sides battle hard over a 22 heat semi final with the top four going on to the 12-heat Grand Final to top off a huge day of racing.
