Bandits set to welcome Bears and new British Champ

Our Mike Hope of Wooler Ltd. Bandits (Powered by Clear Energy Consulting) host the hot-to-trot Redcar Bears on Saturday night at 7, and a fixture which was always going to be competitive, has now been nicely spiced by Bears' captain Charles Wright (Photo above courtesy of Ian Charles) lifting the British Championship at Belle Vue, Manchester last (Monday) night!

An elated Wright said afterwards: “I felt quick all night and I knew if I could get to the dirt first in the final that I’d be away. That’s how it turned out".

“I don’t think I’m shocked. I’ve always had the belief that I’ve got the ability but it feels great to have done it!"

He leads a very strong Redcar squad north on Saturday, testing Bandits' unbeaten-at-home-for-a-year league record to the limit.

The teams will line up:

Berwick: Aaron Summers, 2 Jye Etheridge, 3. Kevin Doolan (captain), 4. Dany Gappmaier, 5. Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen, 6. Fernando 'Coty' Garcia, 7. Leon Flint.

Redcar: Erik Riss, 2. Kasper Andersen, 3. Michael Palm Toft, 4. Jordan Stewart, 5. Charles Wright (captain), 6. Tom Woolley, 7. Nathan Greaves

If Charles Wright brings the same form he displayed at Belle Vue, Shielfield spectators are in for a treat.

Plus, with another tasty wee treat of the NJL mini-match following the main event, Saturday's spectators will be able to enjoy 21 meaningful races for their money.
