Covers on for Berwick v Edinburgh tonight 7.00pm

After the epic of biblical proportions at Lakeside last night, the Berwick "KLS" Bandits (Powered BY Mike Hope, Wooler) return to Shielfield Park tonight at 7.00 for the long-awaited restaging of the SGB Championship Shield (group phase) match against the Edinburgh Monarchs, currently lifting off the bottom of the league having scraped a narrow win last night at Armadale against Newcastle, 46-44.

As the summer weather today is looking more like autumn the track covers have been in place since 7.00 this morning to give the club the best chance of getting the event up and running come 7 tonight.

The Monarchs have made a recent change with Matt Williamson taking a rest as former Bandit, Fernando (Coty) Garcia coming into their side at reserve which will only add interest for his old Berwick fans while, as Berwick's boss Scott Courtney explains, there's an old face popping up tonight: "Theo is away tonight on FIM World Longtrack Final business allowing us a guest facility, and we've plumped for a former Bandit and former Monarch, Matty Wethers to take his place at number six tonight, which should beef-up the entertainment no end.

"We have high hopes too that Jye Etheridge could be on the cusp of declaring himself fit once more, and if that is the case then he's be back in the side to score as may points against the club he just loves to score big against, so we've got our fingers crossed for that all being well. As for the rest of the guys, they are desperate to make amends for the last two nights on the road and will bounce right back tonight - Monarchs beware!"
