Berwick vs Scunthorpe Saturday at 7

The Berwick "Mike Hope of Wooler Ltd." Bandits (Powered by Clear Energy Consulting) take on Scunthorpe Scorpions on Saturday in the Championship at 7.00pm before tackling the Newcastle Diamonds at Brough Park on Sunday at 6.30pm.

In the Championship Shield in April Berwick dominated the Diamonds home and away, winning on Byker shale by 12 points, but in the Knock Out Cup a matter of weeks ago, the Diamonds reigned supreme, leaving this weekend's Championship encounter the local derby decider, and both sides are desperate for glory.

While Berwick race Scunthorpe Scorpions tonight at 7.00pm, they are back at Brough Park tomorrow and Gary Flint has had some unexpected team issues to solve, as he explained: "Unfortunately we're without Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen, and that's a big blow to us as he is such an explosive scorer, but he had to pull out of his Premiership meeting earlier in the week and according to health and safety rules within speedway in the UK he has to sit out a further seven days to ensure fitness, so he's out tonight and tomorrow. We will use rider replacement for both meetings as the other guys have the power to cover his outings and with a bit of luck our Shield team can come out this weekend not our cup team and tomorrow give the Diamonds a welcome reminder what we're capable of after we dispose of Scunthorpe tonight."

Scunthorpe have Kyle Howarth in their side along with David Wallinger as guests.

Newcastle stage their return fixture on Sunday at 6.30pm, and George English is confident of success too, saying: "The Shield was an early season competition that caught us on the hop and the home result should never have happened and it wont again. This week's local battle does, all being well, finally give our home fans the chance to see our new boy, Jacob Bukhave who has had two home meetings scuppered with international commitments and the great weather two weeks back, so at last he can see what he can do on his own home track, and I don't think he'll disappoint."
