ROBERT Lambert starts Saturday’s British Under 21 Final at Berwick as the clear favourite to defend his title.
Lambert, who helped GB to silver in last season’s Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations, is keen to once again claim a national double ofUnder 21 and senior titles.
Local interest is in Leon Flint, who has stepped up to the Berwick side this season as well as riding for Belle Vue Colts – and he startsthe meeting in the opening heat after the draw was made on Tuesday morning.
He’ll be up against Luke Harris, Anders Rowe and Tom Brennan to start the Shielfield Park showdown with organisers hoping for a big crowd.
Neil Vatcher, Great Britain’s youth co-ordinator, said: “Robert is clearly the one everyone will have to catch but anything can happen onthe night.
“It’s a good line-up and I’m looking forward to the event. Berwick will do a fine job holding it, they work hard to promote the sport andit’s good for the meeting to be back there.
“There’s an exciting crop of youngsters right now and I’m expecting some keen competition to progress to the latter stages.”
Lambert, meanwhile, said: “It’s a big year for me on a personal level, I’m just looking to continue were I left off last season and I wantto win as much as I can.
“Obviously I’ve got some targets in my mind but I’ll just focus on taking every meeting as it comes and see what I can do.”
