Frustration as Bandits fall flat at Newcastle

Berwick's co-owner Scott Courtney was virtually lost for words, saying: "It's a very frustrating time for us at Berwick at the moment. We know the guys can do it, yet for whatever reason things are not happening for us, and as our team manager said on Saturday - It's not good enough at this level."

The comments came after the Bandits went down by 25 points at Brough Park taking only two heat wins all night, yet on a positive twist did look significantly sharper from the gate compared to Saturday night, yet the Diamonds found the grip lines and more than once relegated the Bandits to the minor placings.

However one Bandit who has a well know discomfort at Brough Park, Claus Vissing excellent in Heat Seven taking an impressive tape to flag victory over the usually untouchable Steve Worrall, the only disappointment in that race was that third placed Dimitri Berge was on a tactical ride and could only double up to two. Vissing also ended home skipper Ludvig Lindgren's maximum when he held him to the back of the field in Heat 15 pinning the Diamond's Swede to 11+1 from five rides.

Lewis Bridger was Berwick's only other head winner and came in that final heat 15, again killing off a Diamond's maximum as he soared well away ahead of Lewis Rose who was on 10+2 before the 15th race, but a superb piece of brilliance from Bridger saw him dominate from the front to win as part of a rare Berwick heat advantage, 2-4.

There were other good runs from the visitors on the night, with Kevin Doolan getting tucked into the action and guest for the injured Ryan Blacklock, Jack Parkinson-Blackburn taking 4+3 to be paid for seven with some good solid impressive laps indicating again this youngster has bags of potential.

The new management know more than anyone that this early season run is unacceptable - way more than unacceptable - and are spending every minute they can discussing what needs to be done to get the wins Berwick deserve coming Berwick's way. Here's to a less frustrating - and more successful near future!
