BRING ON THE MONARCHS!! Saturday at 7!
Bandits ready for action in the most awaited local derby of the season …… AND...… The clock is ticking for the tapes to go up and the action to commence as the Berwick "Mike Hope Of Wooler" Bandits (Powered by Clear Energy Consulting) take on the "Staggs Bar" Edinburgh Monarchs in hugely anticipated Championship League action!
The start time is as ever 7.00pm, but as the club are getting indications they could be in for the biggest attendance for a speedway match at Shielfield Park in recent times, the gates will be opening half an hour earlier at 5.30pm in order to relieve any traffic jams at the turnstiles forcing the delay of Heat One, and no one wants to delay what is sure to be one of THE matches of the season with the decades-long fierce rivalry built up between the two sides.
Both sides crave glory in Bandits/Monarchs battles, from the 14 passionate riders ready for battle for that vital victory, to the managements of both clubs and supporters who will be cramming the Tweedmouth stadium's terracing, roaring on their guys to grab the league points!
Berwick's own Captain Kevin Doolan returns to the side after his recent lay-off, while Aussie Jye Etheridge and Argentinian Coty Garcia are both refreshed and firing on all methanol-filled cylinders again from their recent injuries, and they're hungry for success as are top-gun Aaron Summers, Berwick's main Dane Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen, Dany Gappmaier - Austria's top speedway racer and the teenager bursting with local pride, Berwick's own home-grown Leon Flint, who want glory over the Monarchs like nothing else on Earth.
Its a special night for fans, old and new alike too at the turnstiles as the Berwick management have produced a superb entry deal at only £10.00 for both adults and concessions with kids - as always - going free in an amazing gesture from the club.
And there's more!! Its Fathers' Day this weekend so don’t forget to treat those Dads out there to some Live Speedway in celebration AND for every programme purchased gets you a free drink from any Bandits outlet! tea, coffee, pop - - - or beer, wine and spirits!!! .... its all there and one free for every programme you buy. What better way than to treat a Dad on Fathers' Day weekend with speedway and a drink! Does life get any better?
Team Manager for the Bandits, Gary Flint said: "We cannot wait to get stuck in to this match as there is nothing more satisfying than sending Edinburgh home on the end of a good Bandits victory, and with the indications we're in for a bumper crowd, the atmosphere on Saturday night is going to be electric! DOING IT FOR JIM
There is a strong will in the Bandits camp that nothing short of an emphatic home victory in front of a good crowd will do to honour the memory of the late Jim Louden.
Jim recently passed away after a long illness and very few people have served the club with such loyalty and dedication since the very beginning.
Let’s pack Shielfield Park on Saturday night. Spread the word folks!
