King Kev and Aaron in the Pairs on Friday

On Friday the Premiership's Somerset Rebels host the Championship's Pairs Finals which sees 10 of the 11 SGB Championship teams taking part, with disappointment heading the Newcastle Diamonds' way as the only team not to make this season's event.

The Berwick Bandits are represented by skipper Kevin Doolan and Aaron Summers who take their place in Group One and will race against Lakeside, who include 2017 Bandits' top man Nick Morris, Scunthorpe with Jake Allen who nearly became a Bandits a number of seasons ago but never actually signed, Edinburgh - the Bandits' most fierce rivals and favourites Peterborough Panther who boast the services of seven-times British Champion Scott Nichols.

Bandits' team manager Scott Courtney said: "This is always a super-tough competition as there's no weak team and a stack of seriously talented riders who all want that top spot. In Kev and Aaron we have two of the most determined guys we could on Friday, and Somerset is now Aaron's new Premiership home so we're looking to his expertise to guide the captain as well on Friday.

"We are of course aiming to make the semi-final stage and take it from there, but there's a lot of racing in this tournament with the unusual scoring system of four for a win, three second, two third and nothing for last means second and third score more than first and last to encourage the team aspect of pairs racing."

Following the 20 qualification heats, 10 for each group, then the top two from each go head to head in two semi finals, the two winners naturally contesting the Grand Final.
