Full 2019 BSPA AGM Statement

SHEFFIELD’S elevation to the Premiership has been confirmed at this week’s British Speedway Promoters’ Association AGM.

The Tigers will take their place in a seven-team top flight in 2020, with Poole moving in to the Championship.

Meanwhile the second tier features Kent for the first time after members accepted an application from the Central Park club to move into the professional levels of the sport.

SUMMERS' TIME!

The management team of the Berwick Bandits were delighted to announce that they have been successful in securing the signature of Aaron ‘Spud’ Summers for the 2020 campaign!

Summers returns for his third straight season in Bandits' colours after his 2019 season was cut short when he sustained a broken ankle after an alarming spill at Shielfield Park but he will be back to full fitness for the 2020 season.

Bandits boss Jamie Courtney can confirm that it will be business as usual in Bandit country in 2020!

It is Jamie’s full intent to enter the SGB Championship division at the upcoming AGM, and plans are well underway to assemble a side that will look to go one better than the last two seasons and clinch a place in the 2020 playoffs!

New TV deal for British Speedway

Eurosport, the number one sport destination in Europe, today announces a new addition to its motorsport portfolio after signing a 5-year deal with BSPA (British Speedway Promoters’ Association) to screen British Speedway live in the UK.

Three seasons off the belt in fans' poll for Jye!!

Jye Etheridge is forming a rare collection in his trophy cabinet as he added third Bandit of the Year award in three years (as voted for by the fans) at last night's 2019 end of season awards and celebration night at the Black and Gold.

The Bandits' riders' rider of the year went to Leon Flint, while skipper, King Kevin Doolan picked up the award for Bonus Point King.

The Supporters Club rider of the year went to Aaron Summers, who also collected the club's most consistent rider trpohy.

John Murray and Chris Charalambous have already pocketed £500 from the Berwick Bandits 5-1 Draw and now the chance to be a winner – and help keep the Bandits on track – is being extended.

Organisers have released new numbers which will be added to the original 120 in time for the third draw at the end of this month.

First prize is £500, a second winner gets £100 each month and the rest of the money goes to backing the Bandits via the S.T.A.R.S. initiative.

Tickets are available for £20 per adult and tables of 11 can be purchased for £200 over at www.berwickspeedway.com and whilst your there you can vote for your ‘Rider of the year’

There will also be a number of tickets available on the door.

Etheridge and Jonasson find the Pairs hard going

Berwick Bandits brought their season to an official close last night at Somerset's staging of the SGB Championship Pairs Championship which saw the best two riders from all 11 clubs battling against each other.

SGB Championship

The Berwick Mike Hope of Wooler Ltd." Bandits (Powered by Clear Energy Consulting) ended their (generally very successful) 2019 SGB with a visit to the Glasgow Tigers last night with a late start time as the second part of a double-header (which Glasgow won 51-39 over Sheffield), but the Bandits were keen to finish with a flourish, but the home side had other ideas.

Bandits (Powered by Clear Energy Consulting) put up a cracking show at the Birmingham Brummies last night in Championship action, and while they did pick up one league point, three of the four they desperately needed just slipped through their fingers as they went down by an agonising two points, 46-44.
