News travels mighty fast these days, eh?
No matter where one is in the world, phones still go ping and vibrate when the news is breaking.
Mine went off twice inside three minutes just now – once to tell me that Boris had been steam-rollered by everyone else and would have to agree to a General Election, and as I was reading and laughing about that, it went off again.
This time to confirm what only gossip-mongers and fantasists (Boris again?) would ever have sought to deny – that our Banditos would be lining up for a record-busting 53rd season as expected, racing in the Championship on Saturday nights.
Did you really think otherwise?
Six weeks ago, I finished a weblog on here with the following paragraphs:
“Let’s have a think, what do we want from our speedway? A trophy cabinet of majestic silverware, but a derelict stadium, no speedway and only fading memories?
Or a thriving, small-town Saturday speedway, with a cheerful outlook and a guarantee of an entertaining night out?
I know what I want, and I hope you do to”.
Well, it has come to pass. We have confirmed that, come April, it will be “business as usual” and, as a wee pre-Hallowe’en treat – no trick – the first two names on our team-sheet will be Jye Etheridge and Leon Flint.
That’s the “worst rider in the league” and the “lamb to the slaughter, hung out to dry in the CL”.
Jye and Leon – both of whom I’m hoping to bump into when I’m going walkabout – did just fine in 2019, and I’m fully expecting, I can foresee it clearly, that their progress will continue in the coming year.
Call it 2020 vision.
