Happy new year…or is it?
Think we shall reserve judgement on that until such times the picture becomes a little clearer.
The hope is for a season starting in May, however it would be fair to say that we have been bitten before with news of a similar nature. Not trying to be negative, more realistic perhaps.
All being well a May start would be pretty ideal, weather should be improving and the conditions would lend itself well to speedway, provided we can all remember that the bikes turn left, there are four riders in a race and its four laps.
Seems simple enough anyway!
These last few months have been brutal on everyone and to be honest I’m at the stage where I’m growing rather tired of being busier than a cucumber in a women’s prison and having my head chewed off by folks who should really know better than to spar with a verbal athlete of my stature.
Anyway, that’s enough about work!
My point is that we’re all putting up with current world events, and we’re all sick of there being a lack of light at the end of the tunnel, a lack of hope and a lack of bloody live speedway!
I’ve said before on numerous occasions that speedway is my escape from the monotony of life, it’s the escape from the norm and it’s my avenue of enjoyment; an avenue which is currently closed.
Sure we can have Facetime and Zoom calls but you know what? I’m not interested in Facetime or Zoom; I’m not interested in looking like a bloody potato on the screen whilst another on screen potato lookalike attempts to get a word in edgeways as their connection drops.
All I want is to see some live speedway, to be freezing my Jacobs Crackers off on the first bend at Shielfield Park as four bikes roar into the first corner and fill my nostrils with that sweet, sweet odour we all know and love.
You know what I’m talking about.
I want to turn round to my mates and ask who was second, I want to turn round and ask if they got the time for heat 3 and most of all I want to make a right pigs ear of filling out my programme because I can’t add five and three together!
You all know what I’m talking about.
I’m not asking for much, I’m a simple man after all and if we do indeed commence racing in May I dare say it will all be worth it.
Then and only then will I maybe be able to fill the column inches with something other than nonsensical ramblings, although to be fair that might be a bit of a stretch. It might be more realistic to say that there will be sprinklings of speedway content amidst a sea of ramblings but it would be nice to have something of substance to write about.
Fingers crossed and Hazchem suit at the ready!
Of course if you wish to agree, or disagree with the Mythman, have an idea for a feature, or you simply want to chew the fat over all things speedway, you can email me firstname.lastname@example.org or get in touch via the JB Speedway Media Facebook page. If your compliments, or indeed gripes can be contained to limited characters, you can send me a tweet @Mythman666.
Until next time…and there will be a next time.
