ON YOUR MARKS…..

Well, here we are….. Season 2025….. On your marks….. Welcome to the…

So the dust has settled on season 2024….
The End of Season awards have been presented and lo and behold, “the miserable, yet arrogant” Drew Kemp swept the board.
Mwahahahahahaha!
Isn’t it amazing what can happen to someone when they come to a place with no pressure whatsoever — somewhere they discover they will have a chance to work through their difficulties?
Drew didn’t have the best start to the season (and my words to Mr Barrie of him being the Dark Horse were looking a bit silly initially) but he was given time — and look at what a turnaround we had from him!
He ultimately got himself dialled in to what is a bit of a “difficult circuit to master” at Shielfield and began taking the scalps…. even showing the coolest of nerve as he kept the buzzing Scott Nicholls behind him in what had to be one of the toughest and tensest Super Heats there’s been, anywhere, so far since its launch
That was very rightly rewarded with a very welcome contract to return in 2025.
And that isn’t all….
We have Danyon Hume also returning…….
Me and the hubby have been watching Danyon since he first started as a Rye House Raider….. he had something to him then, but we always said his style was much more suited to a big track, rather than the right confines of Hoddesdon…. and weren’t we on the money there?
Riding at No 2 means you face the opposition’s big dog in the very first race, which can be tough on anyone — but Danyon did OK, didn’t he?
His Heat 1 victims included Craig Cook, Josh Pickering, Kyle Howarth and even Richard Lawson, showing us what he’s capable of at Shielfield. Go, Danyon!
He admits he had a few suspect away performances; these especially being at former tracks where he would have expected himself to score well — but some riders are known to be their own worst enemy; placing unnecessary amounts of pressure upon themselves that clearly detriments only them!
Danyon admits to being guilty of that!
Also, best wishes to ultra-popular Dane, Bastian Borke who goes under the surgeon’s knife this week in an effort to restore power and feeling to the leg so badly damaged at Poole. Although not announced (yet?) to return — to fitness, let alone Berwick — this cheerful and personable young man deserves our goodwill — what a wee trier..
However, a much more relaxed Danyon and the award-winning Drew are definately “coming home” for 2025, already giving us a solid look to our top 5 for 2025.
There’s only one way we can go, folks…
Not just onwards, but upwards as well!
Bring on 2025!
