A sensational paid 20 from reserve Reid Battye and an equally impressive ten point haul from back to form Victor Palovaara laid the foundations for a huge Berwick win, maintaining their 100 per cent home record despite being reduced to five riders after Jack Smith crashed out of the meeting with hip injuries.
Number one Peter Kildemand weighed in with 12 spectacular points and Nick Morris was only denied a shot at a maximum when his chain guide came off as he lined up at the start of heat 15, forcing the previously unbeaten Australiian to start off a 15 metre handicap.
Former Bandit Drew Kemp and the impressive Tate Zischke led the Comets’ resistance and signed off the meeting with a 5-1.
