Workington Comets vs Berwick Bandits
Berwick had to settle for the bonus point after a meeting which turned on an injury to Comets’ star Tate Zischke.
He was taken to hospital after falling heavily in heat nine and Workington came out strongly after a near hour break, scoring back-to-back 5-1s which put the home side ahead for the first time on the afternoon.
Skipper Jye Etheridge was again in fine form dropping just one point to former team-mate Drew Kemp in his programmed rides and a 5-1 between by tactical sub Peter Kildemand and Victor Palovaara sent the visitors into a last-heat decider just two points adrift.
Unforutanley Etheridge and Kildemand could not repeat their opening heat heroics and instead it was Kemp and another former Bandit, Jonas Jeppesen who sealed the win for the bottom club.
