A late rally gave the Jewson Bandits, powered by Keenwood Karpets, an improved chance of claiming the aggregate bonus point on Saturday night – but their first task is to halt a losing streak which now stands at eight meetings.
For much of the night it was a case of Lewi Kerr and guest Joe Thompson against the Monarchs who consistently picked-off the faster gating visitors on the second bend.
But back-to-back heat advantages in 13 and 14 halted the Edinburgh charge and kept the gap to 12 points going into the return fixture.
