A POINT ON THE ROAD…… BUT COULD WE HAVE HAD MORE?

Yes folks, back for another weekly edition now that I’ve got something regularly to write about 😁

So….. last Friday, for those of us who could actually tune in (I was one, albeit with a very slow stream and loads of buffering) our Bullets went up the road for the return leg against the Armadale Devils and came away with a very well earned point… but deep down, could it have been so much more?

I’m not critical in any way… 4 points from your first 2 meetings is an excellent start, but, my heart and head says we threw away 2 extra points.

In all honesty, Leon exceeded all my expectations (he’s not exactly an Armadale expert) with 13 points, Kyle chipped in a good paid 10 from 5 — and Kieran Douglas was the stand-out with paid 10 from 5 — but again, I believe it could’ve been so much better for us.

Disappointing 5-1’s against them from Greg and Ben in their first 2 rides together and then a 4-2 (14-4 against) done a lot of damage considering we lost by only 6.

Armadale can certainly look to George Rothery in a massive way for helping them achieve this win as he scored 15 from 6 (how it took this long for him to get proper competitive racing, only he knows) but still, I truly believe this was a win that got away from us!

This was also proved by the showing from the Newcastle Gems last night , whom, on paper anyways, I believe to be weaker than us but still managed to come away with the win.

Anyways, on to massive countrywide news… crowds can finally return!

Don’t quote me if it’s likely to be 25% or 50% capacity as I’ve got tired of watching the news with all the guesswork and negativity still around….. but still, a sign that normality of some sort is on the way!

I guess here at Berwick we are lucky in the fact we have one of the biggest stadiums in the country… so although it may be an issue to put into practice initially, social distancing won’t be half as hard as it will be at some other tracks!

What a lift it will be for morale; to hear those bikes, see friends that haven’t been seen for a while, see our team colours on track again.. let’s walk on the side of caution though! 😁 it could all so easily be taken away from us again! So please, please – stay safe!

How nice it is to sign off a short blog with these words; see you all trackside real soon!
