AND THERE WE HAVE IT!

Well folks… the day we waited for… the announcement of the final Bandit for the 2022 season has come…

And it’s a name not many, if any (except those of the eagle-eyed species) would have expected.

Welcome to the Bandits, Tyron Proctor!

It’s a signing that has caused a bit of a stir for those of a Bandit orientation!

We all remember his performance for Leicester last year… but let’s just look past that to his previous years with what we will call “Some Proctor facts”…………

He won the league (and indeed the Treble) with Workington in 2018….his CMA for just that year was 7.12 – 7.91 with bonus. Ty topped Comics’ away averages on 7.30 (8.00 with bonus) and that’s ahead of Klindt, Bewley, Jensen & Bach……….

He won the league (AGAlN) with Leicester in 2019. His average was 6.84 (7.59 with bonus). In the play-off final with Glasgow he scored 7+2 in both legs and was a vital ingredient in a very close-run thing.

At Berwick, we haven’t seen too much of him recently. As far as l can see, he was injured in his first start during Worky’s win in 2018, being replaced by IRR in all four programmed rides and in 2019 hadn’t joined Leicester in time for either of their visits.

Last year at Shielfield for Leicester, he was indeed awful and scored just two points, but……..

Ty was already aware that night he was to be “retired” the following week to accommodate Hans Andersen, and indeed hasn’t raced seriously since…..

Throw in the mix that he had the missed COVID season and was probably facing his own mental demons, wondering why his form, and Leicester’s trust, had deserted him!

He starts this season, with a club where he’ll feel welcome, on 5.42… he comes in with far less pressure then that he would have been under at Leicester — so, if he can get his head in the right place and get back the form he had, whose gonna be the benefactors?

Yep, us…. all the way to those damned elusive play offs!

I’ve said it elsewhere — I’m one of the most judgmental Berwick fans out there….

My mouth runs away with me before my brain can truly catch up! But some of the comments on social media? Ha’way, people — one “weak” rider will not make us a bad team!

I was one Bandit fan that called for change and my God, our promotion have done what they can to bring us that!

They’ve given us the #1 we’ve asked for in Bomber….

They’ve given us back-up to that #1 we wanted in Ricky Wells….

For the first time in a few years we could be going into the last few heats of matches with promise and hope instead of dread…

We have a really solid middle order with Leon, Theo and now Ty..

We’ve got massive strength at reserve — and the promotion has done this within a budget that won’t break us!

This team will surprise people…. trust me!
