Bullets Dodging Bullets, Bandits Taming Tigers?

Typical isn’t it, the one week I can’t make it to Shielfield Park the Bullets just so happen to have a thrilling last heat decider against Mildenhall.

As I watched the updates with bated breath, desperately trying to numb the pain of not actually being there in person I realised two things…

Had Mildenhall been at full strength, that result could have been very different.
A Saturday night away from Shielfield really is a complete waste!

Luckily the Bullets dug deep and pulled it out the bag with a big 5-1 in heat 15 just when we needed it the most and whilst most would expect a big double figure score from new number one Kyle Bickley, perhaps the maximum score of the returning Luke Crang was more of a surprise, albeit a very pleasant one.

I’m lead to believe it’s been around five years since Luke rode competitively so to return with a maximum genuinely doesn’t get much better than that, especially against a side as good as Mildenhall.

So with the Bullets pulling out a big win from the jaws of defeat, can their senior counterparts take inspiration from that and pick up a win against the might of the Glasgow Tigers?

Some will laugh and some will scoff at the thought of that and I’ve no doubt there will be plenty of folks dying to tell me just how wrong I am and that’s absolutely fine, because everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Of course whether that opinion actually carries any water is another thing but that is what it is.

I’ve read plenty of negative comments online about the Bandits recently and while I understand the frustration to a certain extent I can’t help but think that if the criticism was constructive instead of just a rambling tirade I might look upon it more favourably.

I seen a quote online recently which asked how you avoid embarrassment online and the simple answer is to know what you’re talking about before you start talking.

For example, the Olympic games are on the TV at the moment and I could sit on my couch and criticise these athletes for doing something wrong whilst I demolish a packet of Pringles and half a dozen toffee pop biscuits. Point is an Olympian I am not.

So what’s that got to do with speedway I hear you cry? Well I could criticise Aaron Summers online, but I know deep down that I couldn’t do the job that he does, so would me criticising him actually bring anything to the table? Of course it wouldn’t.

Instead of throwing mud, how about supporting your team? Starting this weekend when your Bandits take on Glasgow.

Again I’m fully expecting a backlash on this but hear me out here. I’m a Bandits fan first and foremost. I’m just lucky that I have been given the platform via the official channels to express my views on the club I have supported for over half my life.

Do I want to see a winning Bandits side? Of course I do.
My guess is that if you’re reading this then you do too, so we all want the same thing.

So why can’t we channel that and all just get along?
