Well, here we are….. Season 2025….. On your marks….. Welcome to the…

Lockdown, Day 10386…
With the continued lack of action leaving us with very little to speak of, it can be hard to find a subject on which to ramble upon.
Some of us aren’t as blessed to have as long a memory as Dick Barrie, some of us aren’t quite as eloquent and creative as George Dodds, and by some of us, I mean me.
I’ve seen a few posts on social media about people’s all time 1-7 for their team and Dick Barrie was one who jumped on this bandwagon, and startlingly, there was no Kelvin Tatum in anyone’s Berwick 1-7 that was sent into him!
I just don’t understand it Nige!
With that being said, it did get me thinking, albeit a little outside the box…
Over the course of their history the Bandits have had some cosmopolitan lineups with riders hailing from Argentina to Zimbabwe and everywhere else in between.
It was this that got me thinking, having been well served by riders from all corners of the earth, who would make your Bandits 1-7 from each nation?
Now before you start, i fully realise that Argentina would only be represented by a pair of riders, namely Carlos Villar and Coty Garcia, but don’t fret, we will get to them.
I know enough about Bandits history to know that we have had a few riders hailing from New Zealand represent us, but as many of them were in the early years, I don’t feel I’m in much of a position to put together a Kiwi Bandits 1-7…but that doesn’t mean that you cant.
However, I feel I could put together a few 1-7 lineups from a few other countries, so lets give this a go.
Australia
Nick Morris, Kevin Doolan, Kozza Smith, Jye Etheridge, Aaron Summers, Mickey Dyer, Matthew Wethers
Denmark
Nickolaj Busk Jakobsen, Claus Kristensen, Tom P Madsen, Thomas Jorgensen, Claus Vissing, Steen Jensen, Rene Madsen
Sweden
Jimmy Nilsen, Sebastian Alden, Andreas Bergstrom, Ludvig Lindgren, Robin Aspegren, Alex Edberg, Linus Eklof
Scotland
Scott Lamb, Kevin Little, David Meldrum, Jimmy Macmillan, Charlie Mckinna, Willie Templeton, Dougie Templeton.
You get the idea right?
Now then, back to those of which could represent us in a pairs competition as I mentioned earlier.
Germany
Jorg Pingel and Steffan Mell
Holland
Theo Pijper and Romano Hummel
France
David Bellego and Dimitri Berge
South Africa
Bevan Compton and Byron Bekker
Austria
Dany Gappmaier and Manuel Hauzi…actually never mind, that was about as long as he lasted as a Bandit!
What obscure international Bandits lineups can you put together?
You’ll notice I haven’t even touched the English side of the fence, no point in me doing all the work, so that’s where you come in!
Let’s be honest, it isn’t like a lot of us are doing much else anyway now is it?
Of course if you wish to agree, or disagree with the Mythman, have an idea for a feature, or you simply want to chew the fat over all things speedway, you can email me jbspeedwaymedia@hotmail.com or get in touch via the JB Speedway Media Facebook page. If your compliments, or indeed gripes can be contained to limited characters, you can send me a tweet @Mythman666.
Until next time…and there will be a next time.
Right I’ll hae’tae gan
