Well, here we are….. Season 2025….. On your marks….. Welcome to the…

Day 1473…. or is it really only like 57 days?
The boredom of lockdown is well and truly kicking in…… Yes, I know I can go to work but not being able to go to soft play……. no visits to coffee shops……. no general look in the shops around town……. realising I’ve lost my holiday in the sun…….. my visit to Peppa Pig World down the drain……. yep, 2020 is well and truly over for me!
I thank the Lord though that I’m significantly younger than my co-blogger Mr. Barrie!
Anyhoo, after my wee snippet in the ‘Speedway Star’ a couple of weeks ago, I was left feeling like a little bit of a mini celeb (ha!) so I just want to say thank you to whoever contributed that!
I know that the work I’m doing as part of the brilliant team covering Alnwick/Berwick Oncology Units is very much appreciated in what is truly an awful time for everyone…… more so when we’re wiping out your immune system!
People keep asking me if we’re well equipped on the units…… I, at the minute, can safely say we are — that may change, it may not…… but I’ve learnt not to think too far ahead for my own good!
And thank the Lord, I don’t look too far ahead…… mere days after my touch of speedway stardom I had a bit of a stinking time…….
I say time, I mean day……. and what I’m describing was literally one day……
.
My iPhone went kaput…… and I’m not just on about a minor glitch, I’m talking about dying and flying off to iPhone heaven…… I had red wine dropped on me by my lovely husband…….. a cardboard cut on two fingers whilst I was trying to open a box……. and then a big splinter in my foot after I’d gone out to paint some of the panels on my patio to calm down!
Needless to say, the end of that day couldn’t come quick enough! On the upside though, I got a far better contract and a spanking new iPhone so maybe the misery was meant to happen!
Anyways… bad luck aside… I don’t know realistically if my blog can be filled with positive news…
.
GPs are being cancelled……. Prague being the latest one and I suspect we will imminently be hearing of Cardiff being cancelled too due to the need for the Principality Stadium to remain a field hospital for COVID-19!
I’ve been watching the Polish Speedway news from afar……. I understand that to ride in the Ekstraliga this year, riders have had to take a 50% pay cut; harsh it may be but I can imagine they are still on good deals……. but the rules they’ve put on the riders……. moving to Poland and in quarantine for 2 weeks beforehand… not racing in other leagues! Hmmm.. maybe a step too far!
I’ve seen some who say they will sit out of Poland because of this… fair play to them!
.
Still, it’ll be interesting come June 12th to see how things will pan out over there! Will Poland be setting an example of how things can be done?
And a thought.. will Poland ever be allowed to fill their stadiums with the sort of crowds that they have in the past? Speedway is THE sport in Poland… it’s going to be truly tough times for all clubs to manage when they start back up again!!
Anyways, misery guts is out of here..
Keep safe and well everyone! X
