Well, here we are….. Season 2025….. On your marks….. Welcome to the…

Well… I’m late with the weekly blog again… but I’ve been at a loss with how to word things this week…..
The KO Cup last weekend… I was asked for a prediction before the meeting and I said we’d go down by about 12 on aggregate; I thought the majority of that would come from being battered in the away leg.
But to come away with only 12 points to make up on Saturday night gave me just a small glimmer of hope… until the 1st bend of heat 1.
A classic case of ‘first bend bunching’ saw Dani, Craig Cook and Jye go crashing into the foam fence… and all hope that we had of pushing Glasgow went hurdling right back out the turnstiles and back up the M8.
Thankfully, although it was a very worrying scene we all saw on track, we now know that both Dani and Jye got away with no breaks but will still be two very, very sore young men. The soft-tissue damage can sometimes be harder to sort than a cracked bone……
For me personally, It was hard to get enthusiasm back after that….. yea, I’ve moaned a lot this year but those moans have just been borne of pure frustration……. but Jye and Dani wear our colours and they’ve been loyal to us!
The fight that the other five showed though, has to be truly commended. I think I’ve said it in the past that I don’t mind losing (so much) if I see each individual put their heart out on track and fight.. and that they certainly did.
Okay, we truly didn’t have anyone who could compete with Craig Cook in that mood but our boys in black and gold tried to minimise what they could when he wasn’t out on track!
A very spirited display saw us go down by only 6 on the night… and as I say, I truly can’t be disappointed with that considering we were down to only five – four Bandits and an enthusiastic guest reserve — from the off!
Losing Dany and Jye meant we had to be on the blower pretty quick as we were due at Newcastle the next evening — and okay, I’ll admit that seeing the guests we had, I was quietly confident. But I really do never learn do I….
How well it had been going… swinging back and forth until a very shocking decision in heat 10!
Okay, for those who were there, Theo was rightfully excluded for stopping that race — but in the rerun for Kye Thomson to be excluded for what was deemed “unfair riding” was utter, utter BS!
Our favourite Scot, Mr Jim McGregor was the referee — and I’d really, really love to know what he deemed unfair about a simple first turn incident!
That 5-0 to Newcastle swung momentum in their favour… two more 5–1s for the Diamonds, including a very unexpected one in heat 13, took the points out of our hands!
As my husband says to me, fairly regularly… it’s the hope that kills you!
When will I ever learn…..
