The Dirt Xtra
Saturday night, simply put wasn’t in the script. The Bandits had previously…
It would be fair to say that in recent weeks I have had something of an “Enthusiasm Renaissance” and after Saturday night, is it really any wonder?
There are moments in life, moments in time if you will that stick with you for years to come and those are the moments where you say, “I was there.”
That meeting with Oxford was one and that heat 13 was definitely one of those moments, a moment where I’m more than willing to admit I got lost in as I attempted to call the action alongside my esteemed colleague Marty.
Calling the action from Shielfield Park is a bit of a dream come true if I’m honest and I wouldn’t ever claim to be a natural at it, far from it, I’m just a guy having a go! But having watched and witnessed many a phenomenal Chris Harris moment over the years, it all feels a little surreal to have truly been part of another one.
Speedway’s great innit?
A fantastic night of action, a result in favour of the Bandits as we overcame a potentially tough test meant a satisfactory night at the office on a night where the weather was cold, but the on-track action was white hot. That’s one for the satisfactory column.
In fact, some may say that it’s what the crowd came to see!
As it has been stated a thousand times before when speedway is right, it is simply magic. It’s mega, it’s lightning in a bottle, it’s absolutely bloody dynamite and from my own point of view when the action is like that it makes this sort of stuff a whole load easier.
When there is plenty happening and things are mostly positive the words just flow, they might not make any more sense, but they flow nonetheless! So, when we’re rocking and rolling, strutting, and strolling there is a lot to be happy about when it comes to Berwick Speedway at the moment, and long may that continue.
Now before I wrap things up here, I do wish to thank all of you who have messaged, commented and the likes since the video of heat 13 from Saturday was uploaded to social media, the video has had something like 49k views over various platforms at the time of writing!
As is always the case with these things, you’re never going to be everyone’s cup of tea and you’re never going to please everyone, that’s just the way life is. Naturally there has been one or two negative comments made about the commentary on the video and that’s absolutely fine, folks are entitled to their opinion.
While these people were quick on the draw to type these comments, what they weren’t so sharp at was responding to my offer of them having a go themselves…
In fact, of the three I offered the chance of a lifetime, the response was the sound of silence.
How very strange…
Enjoy your speedway folks, I know I am!
