NOT TOO SHABBY A START!

Howdy again folks!

We’re 2 weeks in to Season 2022 and how nice it is that we’ve yet to experience defeat.

A wonderful team performance on the opening night of the season saw us dispose of the Brummies 58-32 and right the wrong that they done to us a year ago!

What was particularly pleasing was the consistency shown from all seven FTS Bandits, every member of the team picking up at least one heat win and that’s including our much criticised signing Ty Proctor!

I’ve said it to a couple of people elsewhere and I’ll state it here; he’s got a point to prove this season and folk will be made to stand up and take note of him and us when he proves the nay-sayers wrong!

Anyhoo, as I was saying, it’s that level of consistency, and the avoidance of last places, that wins things!

Now, it was only the first meeting, and some may say not the strongest of teams BUT there were still a few that could have given us some problems!

James Shanes and Ashley Morris were potent in 2021 but not so much in 2022….. Claus has done more than enough laps of Berwick and Adam Ellis is the current British Champion….. But never mind… 58-32 it , and the start of what is to come!

Anyways, our GHT Bullets.. what can you say?

Carrying on from where they left off at the end of 2021, last Friday night saw them take a fantastic 38-52 away win up at Armadale (not many Berwick teams can say that).

A fantastic performance from them all but extra plaudits have to go to our new Ace in the pack……

Ace Pijper had as good as a start as you could have ever dreamt of……

The Bullets followed up their away win with a very hard fought 50-40 win against the newly formed Oxford Chargers!! Well done boys…… 7 points gained out of a possible 7.

It’s always easier being chased then to do the chasing!

This Easter weekend now sees a couple of mouth-watering clashes against another enemy who done us over last season — more painfully then the Brummies.

One has to wonder if this is the right time to be going up to Armadale….you know, it’s their opening night, they have new riders to bed in; we have a team with big Armadale experience…..

Do we dare to even hang on to a glimmer of hope that we can achieve something?

The Monarchs will be pinning big, big hopes on Sam Masters and Josh Pickering scoring huge points to ease the pressure on the rest of the team….. but I’m sure our boys are well aware of this and will capitalise where they can!

I don’t know….. I should calm myself….. I’m getting hopeful just writing this blog….. away matches do this to me…. this happened last year; me, getting hopeful and so many times my hope metaphorically killed me inside!

I just feel different this season though….. this is a hungry team…. I’m going to enjoy my journey up to the ‘Dale on Friday….. it’s been a while since I felt such excitement going to an away track!

Whatever happens folks.. stay safe and I’ll hopefully see a large crowd of you out on Friday night, cheering the boys on!
