Well, here we are….. Season 2025….. On your marks….. Welcome to the…

.
Another blog? Already?
Doesn’t seem like a fortnight (I know they’re supposed to be weekly, but it’s really still the close season) and what with the soul-sapping, relentless drudge of at times harrowing work, all the usual family things and no real end in sight to this socially-distanced life we’re all living, I’m struggling a bit for inspiration….
Not that this stops the pressure from Mister Barrie to fill this page….. By the way, has anyone been unlucky enough to have seen him since lockdown? An explosion of whiskers! Uncut hair and unshaved face, he’s a cross between an albino Wookie and a rather salacious Santa!
Not a great look……
Talking of how we all look, I see they’ve finally decided to put my far more glamourous portrait shot to head this blog up. The previous one was from my curly-perm period, and having had it pointed out by the Lord of the Third Bend Norman Clark that I’m a far bonnier lass nowadays, I’m pleased to have had the photo updated……
I guess that working for the NHS hasn’t done to me the damage it has to others…….
Now, to report on my wonderful son…. He has, as might be expected, been up to his usual antics, creating utter hell over the weekend…… Somehow he managed to do it all with such an innocent smile and huge chocolate brown eyes that my anger can just melt away – eventually!
Never mind, his antics got me a new and better phone, although I don’t know how I’m gonna replace the PS4 (that’s a PlayStation4 for the older generation) he’s knackered though…..
He has a deft knack of nicking my phone out of my bag, and rattling off pictures of whatever is happening in front of him, sending them willy-nilly to the last few numbers I’ve called!
So, if you’ve had thirty-odd snaps of various out-of-focus household views, it wasn’t really me…..
But he’s a great lad, he’s my pride and joy nonetheless and, considering the dramatic change to his routine that he’s faced, he’s coping fantastically!
I should say much the same about my hubbie who, like myself, has been working away throughout the crisis……
He’s a sort of Mediterranean Postman Pat, making sure everyone still gets their bills and final demands through the door each morning. I’m sure you will be thanking him for that!
He’s also not looking forward to the next five days, as he’s going to be working from tomorrow through to Saturday, bless him……
As you may know, he used to be a Rye House Rocket before coming under my corrective influence and transferring his affections to our beautiful Banditos.
I see his late-lamented Rockets will be featured in no less than three separate streamings in tomorrow (Tuesday) night’s “play it again, Sam” re-runs on t’internet, and I’m sure I’ll catch him staring at his screen like a lovesick pup, tears dribbling down his handsome cheeks……..
Our own Bandits were on a couple of times last week, featuring in close-finish events at Birmingham and Redcar. Of course, we wuz robbed both times, although I’m pretty sure that there won’t be many matches shown by the various clubs in which the home teams don’t end up winning……
Everyone loves a really tight home win, eh?
