A Virtual Individual

Lockdown Day 786426…

The descent into madness continues and with no actual speedway action to speak of, the task of finding subjects to ramble upon becomes increasingly difficult.

However, not wishing to be beaten I did stumble upon the Speedway GP social media and they were having a “virtual GP” of the past decades best riders and the race winners would be determined via a vote.

While I can’t help thinking I would have liked to have seen this play out in real life, it did get me thinking about something…

Given the subject of my last blog and the ones which preceded it, what if we could have a “Virtual Bordernapolis” working off the same premise?

Hear me out…

Over the last two decades we have seen riders like Todd Wiltshire, Jason Crump, Mark Loram and Leigh Adams grace the Shielfield shale and take part in the Bordernapolis. Now, how about if we followed the same premise as the Speedway GP and pick 16 of the best and have ourselves the “Ultimate Virtual Bordernapolis.”

Sounds fun right?

First off we will need say 16 riders, all of which you can submit via the various forms of communication given at the end of the blog. From there I will generate them into a programme and we will have our line up.

After that we can set up heat by heat the vote and eventually crown the “Ultimate Virtual Bordernapolis” Champion, for which the prize is absolutely nothing other than the title itself and all the plaudits that go with it.

Now I’m fully aware that the Bordernapolis has been on the go longer than 20 years, so that’s where some of you come in. Do feel free to send me some riders you feel should take part in this, but please do give me some justification in your choices, purely to allow me to paint a picture as to why they should be included.

If this idea takes off we can maybe throw together some other line-ups following the same format, perhaps a Virtual PLRC or a virtual match pitching two ultimate line ups together?

The possibilities my friends, are endless.
