Academy blow

Berwick Academy has withdrawn from the 2026 Northern Junior League having struggled, unsuccessfully, to fulfil a number of fixtures, largely due to unavailability of riders.

We only managed to complete two of our scheduled eight fixtures but were unable, despite the efforts of team manager Colin Easton, to field a four rider team in either, not helped by the retirement of Berwick-based Mason Watson.

It is especially disappointing as we won the league in 2026 after sitting out the 2025 campaign. And hopefully between now and the 2027 season we can continue to work hard with the development of young riders both in after-meeting track time and via our training track at Duns with a view to re-entering the NJL in 2027.

With the remaining Berwick fixtures cancelled only two fixtures remain in the league and Glasgow-based Ashfield cannot be caught at the top of the table.
