There’ll be some battered bodies waking up this morning after our R.E.D Bandits, powered by STS, stars found themselves front and centre in a bruising night of Premiership action.

And that means physio, recuperation and fingers crossed that they are able to take their places in a busy weekend of racing.

Luckiest of all was Nick Morris who was able to walk away from a horrific crash at Northampton after seeming to clip the inside kerb before collecting Leicester team-mate Dan Thompson on the way to the fence. Thompson’s bike cleared the Polyfoam barrier, both riders forced to withdraw from the meeting.

“Battered and bruised” was Nick’s overnight reaction with his ankle the biggest worry while Thompson suffered a hip injury. Both are battling to be fit for a run of fixtures which sees them due to race for Leicester at Ipswich on Thursday and against each other as the Bandits visit Edinburgh on Friday before Nick is due to face Redcar at Shielfield on Saturday.

Another facing a fitness battle is Jordan Jenkins who clashed with Bandits’ skipper Jye Etheridge while riding for King’s Lynn at Sheffield. Jye was excluded after bringing  JJ down on the first bend of the second lap in heat two but the Stars’ reserve got up to win the rerun before pulling out of his second ride after two laps, later revealing to Greg Blair on BSN that he had slid feet-first into the Owlerton air fence and was in a lot of pain and discomfort.

Despite being involved in this and a controversial clash with Ben Cook later in the meeting, Jye came out of the evening unscathed as did Peter Kildemand  who helped Fjelsted to victory over Region Varde in Denmark.

Weekend team news when we have it but in the meantime ticket are on sale for Saturday’s meeting against Redcar Buy here As always you can pay cash on the gate, accompanied under-16s are free and there will be opportunities to win a Golden Ticket on the Bandits’ Facebook and Instagram pages throughout the week.
