Two teams looking to bury the bitter memory of a less than stellar Saturday clash at Ashfield tonight.

For hosts Glasgow Tigers it’s an opportunity to put pressure on current Cab Direct Championship leaders Scunthorpe who host unbeaten Poole Pirates tonight.

Visitors R.E.D Bandits, powered by STS will be looking for a strong performance to send them into Saturday’s BSN Series semi-final second leg clash with Redcar Bears with confidence restored.

Six days ago the Bandits were on the end of a heavy defeat at Knockout Cup final opponents Plymouth while Glasgow were losing, for the second time this season, at home to bitter rivals Edinburgh, this time in the Scottish Cup.

Jye Etheridge and Kye Howarth were both missing from their respective teams and came though a challenging test of their fitness on Thursday night, the Berwick skipper was a race winner in Sheffield’s defeat at Ipswich while the newly-installed Glasgow number one was instrumental in Leicester’s comfortable home win over a King’s Lynn side containing Jordan Jenkins.

Nick Morris continues to be sidelined by a back injury, Berwick operate rider-replacement as do Glasgow for Kevin Juhl Pedersen who was hurt in the Scottish Cup defeat. But Peter Kildemand, who crashed out at Plymouth with a shoulder injury, will return for the weekend’s action.

“There are no easy meetings and we need to put in a performance after a difficult trip to Plymouth,” team manager Stewart Dickson said. “It’s a blow to be missing Nick but everyone in the team is eligible to take one of his programmed rides. It’s an opportunity for riders to step up and make their mark.”
