Academy earns draw

Berwick’s Academy side claimed its second draw of the Northern Junior League season, their home clash with Redcar Cub ending 18-all.

Tees-side-based Owen Booth wore the number two racejacket for the home side and improved with every lap around Shielfield.

The home side provided all six race winners – Ace Pijper in the 500CC and younger brother Stene in the 125 category but Redcar packed the minor placings with Booth and Caydin Martin – who tried every line, high and low and will probably never work harder for no return – trying to force through the winning point.

Race of the night saw Stene Pijper hunt down and pass first Seth Norman and then Oliver Bovingdon after an uncharacteristically slow getaway.

The next Academy outing will be at Shielfield against West Lothian Wildcats on 11 June.
