A good weekend ended with a 23-12 victory for the Bandits’ Academy over Workington Meteors.
Having been unable to race at Shielfield Park on Saturday as the KO Cup clash ran into the planning permission curfew, Colin Eaton’s defending Northern Junior League champions finally got on-track at the GT Tyres Arena.
Mason Watson and Meteor number one Jack Shimelt were on NDL duty and with Rocco Webb unavailable, the 500cc rides were left in the capable hands of Mark Parker, the Cumbrian thankfully back on track after stepping back from racing at the end of last season.
His experience was vital as he won all three races against Laylan Richardson and Workington guest Annika Loftus.
Fraser Buckle’s long trip from Oxford was rewarded with another paid maximum for the 125 star. Partner Callum Hague dropped just two points, to George Climo, who along with Lewis Hague suffered bike problems all afternoon, the pair managing just one start apiece. The Academy’s next scheduled fixture is against Redcar Cubs at Shielfield on 16 May.
Elsewhere in the league Edinburgh-based West Lothian have been a busy side with three of their fixtures completed.
Results: West Lothian 12, Ashfield 16; West Lothian 20, Redcar Cubs 16; Redcar 15, West Lothian 19; Workington Meteors 12, Berwick Academy 23.
