Bad break for Jacob

Disappointing news from Poland this afternoon after our popular recent signing Jacob Hook fell heavily riding for Grudzadz against Motor Lublin in the Polish Under-24  league.

The 20-year-old broke his collarbone in the heat three crash and faces the possibility of an operation and subsequent lengthy spell on the sidelines.

It was an especially cruel blow which underlines the highs and lows of speedway as the popular young Australian went into Tuesday’s meeting on the back of his first British maximum – a six-ride paid effort for Monarchs’ Academy in their win over Workington on Saturday, making the trip to Armadale after Berwick’s scheduled Championship fixture against Plymouth had been called off earlier in the day due to heavy overnight rain with more forecast – and duly arriving.

He also made his debut as a TV pundit adding words of wisdom to BSN’s coverage of the British under-21 Final at Glasgow on Sunday and was keen to show Edinburgh what they gave up at Championship level with the Monarchs visiting Shielfield on Saturday.
