Bandits v Workington: BSPL statement

Tomorrow’s scheduled Cab Direct Championship clash between R.E.D Bandits, powered by STS, and Workington Comets has been postponed.

A statement released within the past few minutes by British Speedway Promoters (BSP) reads: WORKINGTON SPEEDWAY
Within the last 48 hours the Directors of British Speedway Promoters Ltd have become aware of administrative issues that must be resolved before Workington Speedway can compete again.
A seven-day suspension of membership has been imposed on Workington Speedway to give them time to overcome these issues.
Said BSP Chairman, Rob Godfrey: “We are happy with the progress being made by the Club in sorting these issues and I anticipate that there will be a speedy resumption to racing at Workington.”
The suspension does mean that Workington’s matches at Berwick on June 28, Oxford on July 2 and Redcar on July 4 will be postponed.”

All tickets bought for this event will be automatically refunded.

Berwick Speedway does not wish to add to the BSP statement at this time.

A statement posted on the Workington Comets website within the past few minutes reads: Workington Speedway acknowledge the statement released by British Speedway Promoters Ltd regarding a temporary seven-day suspension of our membership due to administrative matters.

We wish to reassure our supporters that we are working closely with the BSPL and SCB to resolve these matters swiftly and effectively. The club has made positive progress already, and we are confident that all outstanding issues will be addressed within the seven-day suspension period.

While we are naturally disappointed that this pause in racing affects our scheduled fixtures at Berwick, Oxford and Redcar we fully understand the decision taken and appreciate the guidance provided by BSP Chairman Rob Godfrey.
