Visitors Workington have called on experienced  Shielfield Park track specialist Simon Lambert to keep their play-off hopes alive this weekend.

The Scunthorpe skipper has been a regular big scorer on our shaleway and few will forget his 15-point haul for Plymouth in the final home fixture of the 2023 season. He has already scored ten points in the Scorpions’ league victory here in June and nine in the KO Cup loss here in April.

Workington boss James Denham pairs him alongside skipper Craig Cook on Saturday and at number four when the teams meet again in Cumbria on Sunday afternoon, swapping with former Bandit Claus Vissing.

The Bandits again use rider-replacement for Rory Schlein on Saturday night and are still chasing guest options for both meetings.

Lasse Fredriksen will line up as reserve on Sunday but the eight-day guest ruling means that we have to look elsewhere for a number seven on Saturday, the rule also blocking a number of avenues for Schlein’s replacement on Sunday.

Tickets are on sale now for Saturday’s meeting at an early-bird price of £18 Buy tickets Matchday price, e-tickets or cash only, is £20 (£18 concessions, students). Accompanied under-16s admitted free.  Fans travelling over to Cumbria on Sunday should be aware that admission is cash only on the gate, £20 for adults (no concessions) £10 for students with a valid ID, £5 for 6-17-year olds and £45 for families (two adults and up to three children).

There will be a collection for the Great North Air Ambulance on Saturday.  Funded from donations the helicopters of GNAS can quite literally prove to be lifesavers for people living in a country where you can find yourself over 50 miles away from the nearest A&E Department. There will be a bucket collection on Saturday night or you can find out more and donate directly by going to the GNAAS website. Donate
