There’s no speedway at Shielfield Park this Saturday – but your GHT Bullets, powered by STS, will be hunting down a potential three National Development League points at Kent on Sunday, start 12 noon.
The next hone action is the following week, 20 May, when we are delighted to welcome back one of Berwick speedway’s enduring rivals, the Workington Comets.
In what has been a challenging time for British speedway in general the work put in by Andrew Bain and Steve Lawson to turn the site of the Northside training track into an arena fit for professional racing has been a welcome beacon of good news.
Previously meetings between the Bandits and Comets were the highlight of the season with big crowds at both Shielfield and Derwent parks.
Border Trophy, league showdowns, Young Shield finals have all set the pulses racing.
And now it is they are back and ready to face the Bullets with the return of some familiar faces adding a little extra spice to the mix.
Captain Luke Crang and teen sensation Ace Pijper were 2022 Bullets, the McGurk brothers Harry and Sam have regularly worn the Berwick Academy colours over the years and even Kelsey Dugard – signed as injury cover for another Academy alumni, Luke Harrison – guested for the Bandits in 2017 with reserve Elliot Kelly also making an appearance in our junior ranks.
And odd man out, Connor Bailey has already been on a winning side at Shielfield in 2023 as part of the Redcar Bears KO Cup team.
Tickets are live now via the link below for the early bird price of £12. After midnight on Friday that increases to £14 which is also the price at the cash turnstile. Remember accompanied under-16s go free no matter how you pay
