A Sunday update on our injured reserve and, unfortunately, it has been confirmed that Connor Coles suffered a double break to his clavicle and a broken humerus in last night’s heat 12 clash against Glasgow. The breaks are on the same side that his collarbone was plated after a previous accident.

After an overnight stay Connor was released from the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington and was make the journey home.

It will have escaped nobody’s attention that Connor’s accident came in the first race after he and riders from both teams had completed the annual Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund track collection at Shielfield Park which raised the magnificent total of £2000.

Thank you to everyone who donated so generously to the collection. The fund which helps injured riders both short and long-term relies on public donations. If you weren’t able to donate last night then there are details on how to make an online or postal donation at www.srbf.co.uk
