Duo chase crown

More silverware is up for grabs when Bomber and Leon line-up in the league Riders’ Championship at Poole on Wednesday.

The draw for the rearranged event at Poole’s Wimborne Road was made last night with the British Under-19 champion and SGP2 Wildcard selected to wear the number two racejacket.

His opening race will see him face Plymouth’s Michael Palm Toft, Lewis Kerr of Redcar and Ryan Douglas of Scunthorpe.

Captain and team-mate Chris Harris is one of the pre-meeting favourites – not least because of his six-ride paid maximum when the FTS Bandits, powered by Keenwood Karpets, lost by eight points in June. Leon was also unbeaten from his first three rides that night before being controversially excluded after what most observers saw as first-bend bunching in heat 13.

But the draw means Bomber’s his first heat could be pivotal in the destiny of the title as he faces home duo Richard Lawson and Danny King along with Leicester’s Nick Morris – who won the equivalent title in Berwick colours in 2017.

The meeting, which begins at 7.30pm, will be streamed by the British Speedway Network.
