Some would say he was born for the role, even if the circumstances are far from a fairytale.

But, hot from helping Great Britain reach the Speedway World Cup Final in Germany last night, Leon Flint will step into the R.E.D Bandits,  powered by STS racesuit of injured Peter Kildemand for our make or break BSN Series clash with Edinburgh tonight (7pm).

Leon of course went from rookie reserve to heat leader and captain of his home town team before switching to Glasgow.

Tigers team-mate Sam Hagon deputises for Reid Battye while we still await confirmation of the Edinburgh guest for missing number one Dan Thompson with rider replacement the likely solution.

Bandits need to win by more than 18 points to grab all three points if they are to pinch a semi-final spot as best laser.

That needs the sort of high octane start which blew Workington away seven days ago … and the feverish backing from the supporters which roared us into an unassailable lead.

Gates open at 6pm, e-tickets are on sale until 7.15pm. Buy  If you can’t make it the BanditsTV will stream the action live.

We’ve already seen Leon in action this season. Picture: Keith Hamblin
