It’s raceday

It’s raceday at Shielfield Park and all systems are go for another of our Super Saturday double headers.

First on the agenda is a revenge mission in the Championship Jubilee League with the FTS Bandits, powered by Keenwood Karpets, keen to bounce back from last night’s defeat at Armadale when the What the Fork Monarchs hit town.

Both sides show changes from last night’s line-up due to the European Pairs qualifier which is taking place in Macon, France this afternoon.

Berwick skipper Chris Harris represents Great Britain in France and his place at number one is filled by Redcar Bear Charles Wright.

Another Bear, Kasper Andersen  guests in place of Edinburgh’s Italian Paco Castagna and former Bandit Lee Complin fills in for Norwegian Lasse Fredriksen.

And the action will continue thick and fast after the Bandits bid to open their account in the Scottish Section of the summer competition as the GHT Berwick Bullets take to the track – experience tells us that will be about 8.15pm – trying to claw back a  63-27 deficit in the second leg of the NDL Knockout Cup semi-final.

While that may prove a testing mission even for Bickley, Blair and the rest of the Bullets there is still an important marker to put down with the two teams neck and neck at the top of the league standings and likely to meet again in the end of season Play-offs.

That and the fact that there is no such thing as a dull NDL match!

Kieran Lydan, a familiar face to followers of the Northern Junior League, guests in place of the injured Kieran Douglas.

With 30 heats of frantic action to get through the first race will be under starters’ orders at 6.30pm tonight, the gates opening to the public at 5.30pm.

Car parking is free, admission for the night is £24 adults, £20 concessions, £6 accompanied children 12-15 and £1 accompanied children and is by cash turnstile or pre-purchased ticket, available until 15 minutes before the start (berwickspeedway.com/tickets) ONLY.
