Surprise and disappointing news for our popular mid-season signing Jordan Jenkins.
Just hours after his battling performance in the loss at Poole on Wednesday JJ was contacted by his local hospital to tell him that after reviewing scans taken after his series of crashes at the British semi-final and identified two potential vertebrae fracture – L5 and L2, both in his middle/lower back region.
Jordan battled on in some obvious discomfort in three meetings for both us and King’s Lynn last week but the need for an urgent scan means no racing for the 24-year-old in the foreseeable future.
It goes without saying that we have our fingers crossed that the scan reveals nothing too serious and that JJ is soon back on track.
Immediately that means the R.E.D Bandits, powered by STS will be using rider-replacement at Redcar tonight with all options being considered for the home clash with Workington tomorrow and on Sunday afternoon.
Workington skipper Troy Batchelor misses the weekend’s action after suffering a knee injury and will be replaced in both fixtures by Glasgow’s combative Dane Kevin Juhl Pedersen.
Tickets for Saturday’s meeting are on sale here
Finally congratulations to Nick Morris, Stewart Dixon and weekend opponent Drew Kemp on winning the Premiership Knockout Cup on Thursday night, Leicester beating Ipswich to retain the trophy.
As far as we can remember no team manager has ever won the KO Cup in both divisions in the same season … yet.
