The sun continues to shine on an FTS Bandits, powered by Keenwood Karpets’ camp still celebrating after picking up four big Championship League points at Oxford last night.
X-rays show that Jye Etheridge suffered no breaks to his hand after his index finger appeared to bear the brunt of an untidy heat ten tumble and there was even signs of the swelling subsiding this morning.
However, the popular Aussie will still be missing from the line-up when Berwick launch their Championship Jubilee League campaign at Ashfield on Friday night, 7.30pm.
Berwick will use rider-replacement to cover him and Jye will undergo a fitness test on Saturday morning before a decision is made on whether he can face Redcar in the Knockout Cup quarter-final second leg.
If he doesn’t make it then Aaron Summers – originally booked to guest for Leon Flint – representing Great Britain at Riga, Latvia in the European Under-19 Pairs – will instead cover for Jye with Leon’s rides and the rider-replacement facility switching to number three in an amended line-up as Berwick look to maximise the impact of the facility.
Jonas Knudsen had been due to replace Jye in the Belle Vue line-up at Ipswich on Thursday night only to be thwarted by the terms of his current visa. On the same night Leon was in action for Wolverhampton at King’s Lynn and Chris Harris’ Peterborough travelled to Sheffield before the team reassembles for their weekend cup encounters.
