It’s a cloudy start to matchday in TD15 with a light breeze – and that’s the way it’s forecast to stay as your R.E.D Bandits, powered by STS, prepare to welcome Edinburgh Monarchs to Shielfield tonight, 7pm.
The Monarchs conceded a heartbreaking 5-1 in heat 15 last night as they slipped to a two-point defeat at home to Glasgow which puts the Tigers’ in the driving seat in the BSN Series Scottish section, unbeaten in the mini-league with their home fixtures to be raced next weekend.
But with eight points still available to the Bandits qualification is still a real possibility, not least via the highest-scoring second placed side.
With Paco Castagna, Jonatan Grahn and Victor Palovaara racing in this afternoon’s European Pairs in Slovenia, Edinburgh have called on hugely popular ex-Bandit Jye Etheridge, Jason Edwards and Luke Harrison to guest while handing a second-tier debut to 16-year-old Stene Pijper following the midweek retirement of Max James.
Berwick are at full strength.
A reminder that there is a collection at the turnstiles in support of the Walk Speedway fundraising effort for the SRBF’s Ben Fund. Scott Frame, Greg Blair and Laura Pollard will begin their 107-mile trek from Shielfield Park to Redcar’s Ecco Arena at 10am tomorrow.
Tickets are available now Buy Cash-only turnstiles open at 6pm.
