The morning after, the night before! It’s all systems go with Shielfield Park in tip-top condition as speedway returns to the famous old stadium for the first time since 22 June. 7pm in case you’ve forgotten!

Jye Etheridge will wake up with a stiff elbow after being flattened in turn one of heat 12 at Armadale last night and will undergo an early-morning fitness test.

Visitors Edinburgh are again without injured heat leader Justin Sedgmen. They coped well enough on Friday, scoring eight points from rider-replacement rides, but they take the guest option tonight, saving on travelling expenses by booking Glasgow’s Leon Flint into the number five berth.

For Leon it will be a strange feeling as he faces his home-town club for only the third time – twice as a Tiger and as a Bullet in the experimental 2021 inter-club challenge match.

For the Jewson Bandits, powered by Keenwood Karpets, there’s an opportunity to put the record straight after a series of poor results. Plymouth duo Joe Thompson and Ben Barker guesting again.

We’re just looking for the light drizzle that greeted early risers in TD15 to clear.

Team manager Stewart Dickson was typicall blunt in his assessment  of the away fixtures at Oxford and Edinburgh this week.

“With two exceptions it just wasn’t good enough,” he said.

“The riders have the chance to put the record straight on Saturday night and it is important that we get a win at home. Then there is the aggregate point which our late rally at Armadale brought back within our grasp.

“We had good support last night and have all year at home. It’s time to give them a performance to remember.”

Tickets for tonight’s meeting are available until 7pm tonight Buy tickets They, and cash admission, cost £20 (£18 concessions) with accompanied under-16s admitted free.
