Matchday update

A busy morning for two teams looking to wash away the memories of a less than stellar Friday as they prepare their machinery for tonight’s clash at Shielfield Park (7pm).

Rain called a premature halt to Oxford’s trip to league leaders Glasgow with them 20 points adrift, 23-43, with three heats still to race.

Of course the R.E.D. Bandits, powered by STS went all the way at Redcar and returned up the A1 on the wrong end of a chastening 31-58 BSN Series semi-final first leg mauling.

Of course their perfect home record this season includes 58 point against Workington, 57 when Edinburgh visited, 56 against Scunthorpe and just one less when Poole were the visitors.

But, with a tricky trip to Knockout Cup final opponents Plymouth next Saturday, this is the last fixture at Shielfield before that second leg and an opportunity for Reid Battye in particular to renew acquaintance with our unique raceway.

The forecasters say it will remain cloudy but warm until the afternoon when the sun breaks through. Perfect conditions to welcome Same Masters, Edward Kennett, Mitch McDiarmid and Luke Killeen with Cab Direct Championship points on the line.

E-tickets remain on sale until after the first heat or you can pay cash on the gates, which open at 6pm. Buy here

Car parking and accompanied under-16s are free as we look to resume normal 2026 service at Shielfield.
