A sunny, albeit chilly start to Saturday in TD15 as the countdown continues towards tonight’s Cab Direct Championship clash with Scunthorpe Scorpions. The forecast is set fair.

Four CC – Craig Cook and Connor Coles – are on-song having steered Edinburgh into the semi-finals of the BSN Series after their 50-39 hammering of Glasgow at Armadale.

At the same time Scunny made it two-from-two in the Championship as for the fourth time this season they beat Redcar, this time 53-37 at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

Jake Allen, 13, Kyle Howarth, 11+2, and Connor Mountain, 10+1, did most of the damage. Michael Palm Toft weighed in with 9+1 despite a rare off-night for skipper Simon Lambert.

Our leader has once again stressed the importance of making Shielfield Park a fortress despite our injury problems.

Stewart Dickson said: “I will predict that there won’t be a repeat of the scoreline from April. The Scorpions have got their act together since that night as we are only too painfully aware following the second leg hammering.

“Ever since I was appointed Berwick team manager I have said that we must win our home meetings in addition to being competitive on the road and picking up aggregate points.

“Do that and every time you read the league table we will be at the right end of it and on the right side of the cut off point for reaching the end of season knockouts.”

Drew Kemp faces one of his former clubs in the middle of a good spell of form with scores of 11, 8, 6 and 11 from his last four outings.

Drew leads the way with Jye against Tom Brennan and Zach Cook (Tony Burchell)
… and clashes with Sam Hagon on the first bend at Poole on Wednesday (Tony Hartman)

Tickets for tonight’s meeting are on sale until 7pm at £20 (£18 concessions) Buy tickets. Cash turnstiles will open at 6pm, accompanied under-16s are free. The meeting will also be broadcast on the British Speedway Network, Greg Blair hosting the livestream which will go on air at 6.45. Watch or buy stream

There will be a collection for our injured Dane. If you want to put something in to help him at this difficult time look out for the buckets near the main entrance.
