Matchday update

For one last time – at least as far as the Jewson Bandits are concerned – it’s all systems go in TD15 2BA, the town waking up to a mild August morning and preparing for the visit of Workington Comets.

They still have one eye on the fourth play-off position which is no clearer following the abandonment of Glasgow’s trip to Edinburgh after seven heats last night. Scunthorpe became the first side to beat Poole this season – the Pirates’ only other dropped point a draw and Super Heat defeat at Oxford.

Scorpions skipper Simon Lambert swaps colours to guest for the Comets in both matches this weekend in place of the injured Tate Zischke, Erik Riss deputising for the unavailable Craig Cook.

For the Jewson Bandits, powered by Keenwood Karpets, 2023 Rider of the Year Connor Coles returns to stand-in for the injured Bastian Borke with Berwick operating rider-replacement for the injured Rory Schlein.

Both injured Bandits are hoping to be at Shielfield Park tonight (7pm) watching from the sidelines.

The teams meet again at Workington tomorrow (3pm).

Just a reminder that there will be a collection for the North East Air Ambulance charity tonight.

Tickets for tonight’s meeting are available right up until racetime Buy tickets  Cash turnstiles will also open at 6pm. Admission is £20 (£18  concessions and students) with accompanied under-16s admitted free.
