Peter Kildemand and Nick Morris will fly the R.E.D Bandits, powered by…

No sooner had the button been pressed to upload the Monday Debrief than James Kennedy contacted us via club@berwickspeedway.com to point out that while Peter Kildemand and Jonas Jeppesen may be the first Bandits to both score a paid maximum in the same meeting, their efforts were trumped by two of our 13-heat megastars.
Steve McDermott won all four races at one of his former clubs, Stoke, in June 1980, Wayne Brown following his team-mate home in heat 13 to finish with 11+1 from his four rides in an era when 13 races with no nominated last heat decided a fixture.
As away victories go, the Bandits’ 48-29 triumph at Loomer Road was one of our best performances … and it could have been even better. Nig Close was excluded after falling in his opening ride before going on to win his other three rides with some ease.
James also adds Mark Courtney to the pantheon of fine away performances, nominating his 15-point maximum at Powderhall in 1988s 50-46 victory over an Edinburgh side in which Les Collins scored 16 points and Jamie Luckhurst 15 for a Monarchs side using rider-replacement for injured former Bandit Doug Wyer, 17 years after the Flyer’s full house for us at Peterborough.
