Fans attending Saturday’s season launch events can help safeguard the future of both Berwick and British speedway in the process.
Entry to Saturday’s press and practice session for the Berwick Jewson Bandits, powered by Keenwood Karpets. The gates will open at 6pm and the riders will be on-track at 6.30pm.
Once the vital practice laps have been put in and pictures in the smart new racesuits taken it will be over to the Black and Gold for a meet the riders session. Please note that both events are now happening on Saturday night.
Those donations will be put towards the running costs of our purpose-built Academy and training track at Duns.
The circuit, at Langton Lees Farm on the outskirts of the Borders town, opened in October 2017 and has staged regular teaching and training sessions since.
In 2024 they will take place on Sundays with the first of five special sessions – to be led by northern speedway legend Kevin Little – scheduled for April 7.
May 26, June 30, July 14, August 4 and September 8 are also diaried-in with more details to be shared nearer the event although there are likely to be more ad-hoc sessions during the summer.
“Duns is a great facility and building it was the culmination of a long-term dream for people such as myself and Gary Flint,” Berwick speedway co-owner Scott Courtney said.
“Riders at the sessions pay their way but we have always tried to keep the costs as low as possible so as not to price anyone out.
“But there is on-going maintenance or the track and fence, shale to buy and equipment to maintain so any donations towards that will be gratefully received.”
If you’ve bought a season pass then it will be available for collection at the box office between 6pm and 7pm on Saturday. If you can’t make it then there will be another opportunity between 3pm and 5pm in the Black and Gold on March 30 or collect it on the night of our opening Border Trophy first leg against Workington Comets.
If you haven’t already invested then passes are still on sale covering the 12 scheduled regular season meetings at Shielfield Park – the Border Trophy, KO Cup quarter-final against either holders Scunthorpe or Plymouth, two BSN Series qualifying group matches and the eight Cab Direct Championship fixtures. Match admission will be £18 by online ticket (inclusive of booking feeup to midnight on the Friday before a meeting and £20 on match-day. Cash payment on the day is £20 (£18 concessions). Accompanied under-16s are admitted free of charge.
