Leon and Jye have been confirmed as Berwick’s duo for the Cab Direct Championship Pairs at Oxford on September 1. Rory had a family holiday booked otherwise he would have partnered the skipper. Jye and Chris Harris were pipped to a place in last year’s semi-final on countback after they finished level with Poole on 22 points in the qualifying group.

Redcar defend the title with Charles Wright this year partnered by Danny King. His partner last year, Lewis Kerr, lines-up for Oxford alongside Sam Masters.

With Steve Worrall on British GP wildcard duty at Cardiff the following day Australian Ben Cook partners Richard Lawson for Poole, Harris and Benjamin Basso form a very strong looking Glasgow side, Craig Cook and Josh Pickering fly the Edinburgh flag, Troy Batchelor and Justin Sedgmen represent Birmingham, Jake Allen and Ryan Douglas are the Scunthorpe pairing, while Kyle Howarth and Richie Worrall are Plymouth’s representatives.

Tickets are on sale from Oxford Speedway oxfordspeedway.club/tickets   and the meeting will be streamed live by British Speedway Network watch.britishspeedway.co.uk
